摘要:
The bore of a metal pipe is cooled during a continuous hardening process, where the pipe travels in its axial direction through a heater and then over a perforated ring nozzle located in a transverse plane (t) at 90 degrees to the pipe axis. The nozzle has a circular row of holes, each hole axis being set at an angle of 30-70 degrees forward of plane ( t) in the direction of pipe travel; and each hole axis is also set at an angle of 30-90 degrees w.r.t. the radial direction of the pipe. The coolant is fed at a velocity >5 m/s out of the large number of holes onto the bore of the pipe. The coolant is pref. water of a water-air mixt.; and the pref. equipment includes a ring nozzle forming the cpd. angle specified above. Water is fed to the nozzle by one pipef and air and water by either two pipes or a coaxial pair of pipes. Spiral streams of coolant are provided for uniform quenching of the pipe.
