摘要：PURPOSE:To attain the long-time smooth operation of a vertical furnace by feeding a small amount of lumped chrome ore along the wall of the furnace so as to inhibit the reaction of vaporized SiO2 or powdered CaO with the body of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Prereduced chrome ore is fed to a melting and reducing furnace 3 from blowing inlets 6 by means of hot air blown from tuyeres 15. The furnace 3 is provided with plural tuyeres for blowing hot air arranged vertically in two or more steps. A carbonaceous solid recuding agent 26 is charged into the furnace 3 through a feeder 13, and it is discharged from a bottom outlet 17 after reducing the chrome ore under melting. Lumped chrome ore 27 regulated to a smaller size than the size of the reducing agent 26 is fed along the wall of the furnace 3 from the top through charge pipes 18. By this method the reaction of SiO2 vaporized from a flux or powdered CaO with the body of the furnace is inhibited, and the furnace is smoothly operated for a long period.
