摘要：PURPOSE:To vary the color tone (saturation) of a display part according to display contents by varying the gradation of a liquid crystal panel electrically. CONSTITUTION:Such a reflecting plate 2 that a color filter is superposed upon a mirror surface is provided on the reverse side of a phase transition type liquid crystal display panel which varies in light transmittivity continuously with a voltage and its view side is irradiated with light. A voltage V1 is applied to the 1st display point of the liquid crystal display panel 1 and a voltage V2 is applied to the 2nd display point. Then, 25% the irradiation light to the 1st display point and about 80% the irradiation light to the 2nd display point return to the view side. The color tone on the display surface is sharpest at the 2nd display point and lower-saturation (whity) color tone is obtained in the order of the 1st display point and a nondisplay point. Thus, the gradation of display color at an optional point on the liquid crystal display panel is varied without using any mechanical mechanism, and the performance is improved.
