摘要：<p>The engine exhaust pipe (2) contains a butterfly damper (1) operated by a bimetal strip (6). The damper spindle (3) projects through the side of the pipe into a bearing cap (10) which is bolted onto the pipe. The bearing cap contains a bearing (5) and the bimetal strip is contained in a cover (11) on the end of the bearing cap. The bearing cap is shaped to provide a chamber (12) between the bearing and the exhaust pipe. This chamber contains a labyrinth seal (7) and has an outlet (8) between the seal (7) and the side of the exhaust pipe. The outlet is connected to the suction of the engine.</p>
