摘要：<p>A composite grinding tool for metal machining comprises a rough grinding section of abrasive grains bonded in a hard matrix connected to a fine grinding section comprising abrasive grains bonded in an open structure textile matrix which is more flexible than the hard matrix. The relative movement of the tool and workpiece is such that the workpiece initially contacts the rough grinding section. The strength of the fine section relative to the rough section is such that with the workpiece contacting the whole grinding area, the proportion of the total grinding pressure absorbed in the fine section corresponds to the proportion of its contact surface with the workpiece. The textile matrix may be a fibre mat or felt with a foamed plastics. Tool may be used in grinding knife blades. Simultaneous rough and fine grinding is effected without burning.</p>
