摘要：<p>The vent is for a tank which houses a vessel containing a flammable and/or poisonous liquid, so that a safety chamber is formed between vessel and tank wall for any liquid leaking from the former. The area of the tank wall (5, 6) near the outlet port (20) allows greater heat transfer to the air in the safety chamber (18) than does that (2, 3, 9) near the inlet port (19), when heat is applied to the tank from outside, thus causing different rates of heating of the air in the chamber. This causes the hot air to rise towards the outlet, generating a draught to it from the inlet.</p>
