The cooling chambers 20, 22 may be heat pipes or they may be cooled by a circulating fluid and the component 10 may be sealed within an annular envelope 53 including metal and ceramic parts. The cylinders 24, 26 may be Cu and it may be brazed on to Mo end plates 28, 30 using a Au-Ni alloy.
