摘要:
Filter elements are produced in the form of bands for building into a filtration unit to be incorporated into a junction box in a duct along which harmful or radioactive gases are exhausted and have to be filtered. A porous fleece such as a paper of glass fibres is folded into a continuous series of pleats, refolded into a rectangular structure and packed into a holder with two openings facing each other. Along the crests of the undulating pleats at the two opposing sides, supporting strips are attached. These are then cut through in zones between the two crests of adjacent pleats, at a definite and uniform pitch, alternately on one side of the band and then on the other. Where the incisions allow it, the bands are then folded concertina fashion and packed into the filtration cell frame. The folding is effected automatically in a special purpose machine. The continuous web of filter paper being drawn from the reel, folded into continuous accordion pleats, whilst the stiffening strips are attached simultaneously. The hydraulic operating mechanism is controlled electronically together with the circular saw motors for the slitting of the supporting strips etc. Provides a much cheaper filter assembly than that formed from a large number of parts, including a housing with support plates for the pleated filter cloths, which need to be sealed all round with a large amt. of adhesive paste.
