摘要：<p>1498938 Composting slurries NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 8 Jan 1975 [11 Oct 1973] 47491/73 Heading C1B Organic waste (e.g. excrement) in the form of a slurry is composted in admixture with vegetable matter in a form such as to provide a porous, air permeable matrix, the drainings from the bed being passed repeatedly through composting organic matter to reduce the B.O.D. and also the volume of liquor (by evaporation). The slurry may be added to the matrix, e.g. straw or straw and wood shavings, twigs, or hay or the two may be added together, or layered. The drainings may be recirculated through the same bed to reduce B.O.D. &c. or through one or more previously built beds. The method may be operated with no net liquid outflow, fresh drained liquor being added to recirculating liquor to replace that lost by absorption and evaporation (i.e. with a slurry of 7% or more solids) or the drainings, where B.O.D. has been reduced to a minimum, may be passed to a biological filter for further B.O.D. removal (e.g. when slurry has 4% or less solids). The composting preferably takes place at 60‹ C. or more and air may be passed through the bed.</p>
