摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube suitable for high ampere operation from a cathode capable of establishing a high brightness of cathode-ray tube, enhancing the focusing performance, and shortening the image output time. SOLUTION: An electron emitting substance layer 42 of a cathode 40 constituting an electron gun is composed of a first layer 421 including an alkaline earth metal oxide formed on the surface of the substrate metal 41 of cathode 40 and a second layer 422 made of alkaline earth metal oxide containing 0.1-10 wt.% rare earth metal oxides formed on the surface of the first layer 421 and having a mean particle size of 0.2-1.0μm, wherein the substrate metal 41 contains nickel as the main component and one or more reducing metals such as magnesium and silicon, and the plate thickness of the portion contacting with the electron emitting substance layer 42 is made between 0.10-0.15 mm.
