摘要：A tennis ball comprises a spherical hollow rubber shell covered by a pair of air-permeable figure-of-eight covers, plus an elastomer non-return valve in the shell made of two compressed surfaces as a result of inside ball pressure. One cover closes off the outer opening of the valve (42), with a filter interposed between cover and valve. The two compressibly conjoined valve surfaces (48, 52) are both coated and the ring (54) in the valve opening (40) is so radially thick in the axial part of the outside edges of the valve opening (40) as to remain axially constant in conjunction with the bearing provided by the material forming the valve opening. A sealing nipple in the ring (54) extends radially inwards and axially in fluid flow from the ring so as to seal home at the far end. The nipple is shaped to produce a wedge effect and progressive sealing under increasing fluid pressure, the fluid thus pressing the nipple into the ring.
