摘要：PURPOSE:To prolong the storage life of recording information on an optical disk and to erase the information by using a comparatively low output by providing a preheat means in addition to an erasure laser. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 20 from an erasure semiconductor laser 11 is collected as a spot 22 onto an optical disk 21 via an objective lens 15. On the other hand, the laser beam 24 from the semiconductor laser 16 for preheating is collected as a spot 25 on the disk 21 via the objective lens 15. The relation of position of both the spots 22, 25 is decided so that the spot 25 is subjected to preheating just before the laser beam 20 reaches the spot 22. Thus, the vicinity of the erasure spot 22 is subjected to preheating. Then even with a medium material having a small crystallizing speed used, since the position to be erased is subjected to temperature rise already, the erasure is applied in a short period even with a semiconductor laser having a comparatively low output and the storage life of the recorded information is extended.
