摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for testing a toxic substance, which utilizes the chemotaxis of a cell due to a chemotactic factor and by which a cell movement based on the self force of the cell can accurately and easily be detected with a small amount of a cell specimen, when the chemotaxis is detected. SOLUTION: This method for testing the toxicity of the specimen is characterized by bringing the specimen into contact with the cell and then judging whether the chemotaxis of the cell disappears or not, namely whether the specimen has or not toxicity against the cell. The method for testing the toxicity of the specimen comprises charging a cell suspension into one A of the wells of a cell chemotaxis detection device, charging a specimen containing the cell chemotaxis factor into the other cell B, charging the specimen into the well A to bring the specimen into contact with the cell at an arbitrary stage, and detecting the presence or absence of the cell chemotaxis. In the cell chemotaxis detection device, the two wells capable of receiving the liquid specimen in a stationary state communicate with each other through a passage having resistance to the movement of the cell, and each well is equipped with a pipe for injecting or sucking out the specimen.
