摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect and reduce a red-eye in an image automatically without intervention by the user while keeping a natural outward appearance of eyes. SOLUTION: The automatic red-eye detection and reduction system 10 is provided with a red-eye detector 12 and a red-eye reduction system 13. The red-eye detector 12 detects whether or not a red pupil in eyes is included in an image 11 by employing a face or eye detection technology automatically without intervention by the user. In the case that the red-eye detector 12 detects a red pupil in the image 11, the red-eye detector 12 detects a position and a size of the red pupil and gives red pixels in the red pupil in the image 11 to the red-eye reduction system 13, where a color of each red pixel in the detected red pupil is changed into a prescribed color (e.g. monochromatic color).
