摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new catalase capable of efficiently decomposing and eliminating hydrogen peroxide in waste water and useful for the treatment of the waste water, etc., in marine product-processing factories, etc., by culturing a Vibrio S-1-6 strain having a strong hydrogen peroxide-decomposing activity. SOLUTION: This new high titer catalase is produced from a microorganism, Vibrio S-1-6 strain (FERM P-14531), belonging to the genus Vibrio and having a strong hydrogen peroxide-decomposing activity. The activity of the enzyme is little in dependency on the changes of temperature and pH. The enzyme can efficiently decompose and eliminate the hydrogen peroxide in waste water, etc., and is useful for the treatments of waste water, etc., in marine product- processing factories. The high titer catalase is obtained by culturing a new microorganism Vibrio S-1-6 strain (FERM P-14531) having a hydrogen peroxide- decomposing property and collected from waste water in the main office factory of Ihara Suisan (fishery) Co. Ltd. in Rumoi city, Hokkaido, separating the product from the culture product and subsequently purifying the separated product.
