摘要:<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title bacterium capable of growing even at a relatively low temperature and maintaining methane-producing activity, remarkably reduced in energy cost for after heating and capable of efficiently carrying out waste product treatment or waste water treatment, useful for energy saving, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective bacterium capable of growing even at a low temperature of 15-20 deg.C and maintaining methane producing activity. The bacterium is preferably desired to be able to grow using acetic acid as a substrate. Further, a bacterium having optimum pH for growth at 6.5, the optimum temperature at 37 deg.C, the optimum NaCl concentration of 0.25M, gram-positive and a salcina-like form, especially a bacterium of genus Methanosarcina NY-927 (FERM P-10975) is cited.</p>
